Marvin
All About Marvin: Marvin is a male Border Collie of 6years.
Marvin made his way from Bulgaria without Rescue Backup and then found himself unwanted. Marvin has been lucky to gain the support of locals to try and help him to secure a future in the UK.
Marvin’s main challenges are behavioural:
he is reactive towards strangers and very protective of his handler;
he does not get on with other pets in the home (dogs or cats); and
he is most settled in a calm, pet-free environment with one consistent carer.
Marvin's team have been rotating his care between them for months now but, because they all have their own pets, it has become unmanageable and stressful for everyone — especially so for Marvin. Marvin is now urgently seeking a safe and stable home.
Marvin has Atopic Dermatitis and he is currently on medication but his diet has been changed so we are confident that his reliance on medication will not be necessary long term.
Marvin is bright, loyal and highly trainable and he responds beautifully to calm, consistent guidance. Marvin can be anxious and may react protectively in unfamiliar situations. Marvin prefers his personal space and is happiest when people and animals respect his boundaries. Marvin does not like strangers reaching out to pet him without his consent — but once he trusts you, he will come for affection but on his own terms.
Marvin has a moderate energy level and thrives on routine and reassurance. Marvin is looking for a new home with an experienced family with no children or other pets and with a family who understands he needs his space as, with the right structure and a gentle, confident leader, Marvin truly blossoms.
Notes from his carers:
• Settled well after initial anxiety; now affectionate and calm;
• Bonds deeply with his person;
• Prefers to be left alone by other dogs and cats;
• Does not enjoy being petted by strangers; prefers to initiate contact;
• Good house manners (but secure the bins — he’s a cheeky snack thief;
• Walks beautifully on lead;
• 1.5–2 hours of daily exercise is ideal;
• Knows commands: stop, wait, come, no, this way, sit;
• Toilet-trained;
• Can startle at sudden noises, but calms quickly;
• Generally quiet — does not bark at the door or at delivery people;
• Introduce other dogs slowly, with distance;
• Use consistent commands — he thrives on structure;
• Be mindful of strangers approaching quickly; and
• Allow time to bond — he forms strong attachments once settled,
Marvin is a gentle, devoted soul who has been through loss but hasn’t lost hope. With the right person, Marvin becomes deeply loving and loyal, just give him structure, patience and kindness — and he will give you his whole heart.
Marvin is in the ASHLEY, Suffolk, area.
