Ernie
All About Ernie: Ernie is a male Pocket Bully of approximately 1-2 years old.
Ernie was taken in by his previous family in order to remove him from an abusive situation, where he was used for breeding and crated for long periods. Ernie's family had a number of nip incidents, no skin broken but there were a number of factors that may have contributed towards Ernie's confusion and behaviour.
Ernie's behaviour was such where he had a high arousal threshold and he also resented being forced into a crate, which is understandable, and so this was a further trigger to his bad behaviour.
Ernie was taken into kennels, where he reacted to being placed in the kennel which resulted in bites.
Ernie has since been neutered and moved to rehab kennels where he has been a good boy and he is happily going into the kennel - keenly following a treat and is also being handled by men, previously preferring women.
Ernie will obviously need a very particular home, one that is a quieter environment and without children, as he can get scared and overwhelmed quickly in busier households and becomes petrified and defensive with loud noises eg door bells, hoover etc.
Ernie is generally an energetic, soppy boy who loves kisses and belly scratches and loves wearing jumpers to keep him nice and warm. Ernie loves the outdoors and going for a walk, followed by a nice snooze.
Ernie is not too fussed over toys but he does love balls and will rip them apart.
Although Ernie does not like to be forced in to a crate, he is well behaved when left alone and will take himself off to his crate for a nap so it would be important for him to have one in his new home, but for when he chooses to use it.
Ernie has been around other dogs on his walks, etc, and has not reacted. It is not known how Ernie would be with other dogs in his new home but this may be good for him going forward after careful intros and a means of separation.
Ernie is currently in the PREESALL, Poulton -le- Fylde area and would need any new family to either be local or be able to commit to a number of meets.
