Bear
All About Bear: Bear is a male Cockapoo of 3yrs.
Bear is a lovely dog but can be anxious and fearful of other dogs and people (mainly men.)
Bear has done incredibly well whilst being with his current family who rescued him in early December from a neglectful home, where he had been crated for the majority of his life with hardly any training, socialising or walks, his coat was in a terrible condition with matting and urine burns.
Thankfully, Bear has come on leaps and bounds and has experienced socialising, a wide variety of walks in different areas and he has learnt to trust his dog walker who is also a dog behaviouralist.
Bear is looking for a new home as his family do not feel they have the right environment for him, as he ha become protective over them including the children which has led to some nipping.
Bear does occasionally toilet in the house but the pheromone plug ins, calming treats and regular toilet breaks help immensely.
Bear is looking for a new home with a family that are active and can continue with this training and confidence building, without young children. Bear can be a very anxious dog and if not understood and given sufficient time to adjust he will show fear aggression and will lunge to nip (possibly bite) a person. Men make him more anxious but he has learnt to trust male family members over time after several meetings.
Bear is a wonderfully loyal companion, once he has learnt to trust all family members and he may do very well with another dog in his new home.
Bear is great off lead with other dogs and the odd dog that he feels safe with on the lead, however he can be lead reactive and pull on a lead but given a gentle introduction walk, he may learn from a calm female dog to help him along his path from being anxious and nervous due to not being socialised in his previous home. Bear is currently walked with a calm female dog.
Bear can be left home alone without suffering separation anxiety but this will need to be built up gradually and increased over time.
Bear can be anxious with car travel but does relax the more trips he has been on.
Bear is a bundle of energy, filled with fun, love and loyalty. Bear is a sock monster and loves a sock: he’s not fussy whether they’re dirty or clean! When the environment around him is calm, he tucks himself under your arm for heartfelt cuddles and within moments he will be snoozing away. Bear loves to find his treats in puzzle toys and he will get really giddy searching under and in things to find his treasure. Bear likes a bath and to be brushed. Bear is not overly keen on grooms but great progress has been made! Bear walks no matter what the weather and enjoys quieter, woodland walks in particular.
Bear loves the people he learns to trust, whole heartedly but warms to females more quickly than males and this seems to be the case with doggies too.
Bear is in the BARNSLEY, South Yorkshire area.
