Joey

All About Joey: Joey is a male crossbreed of approx 6yrs.

Joey has been with us in foster care since early November last year and he is such a different dog to the one that we were told he was, no longer anxious but instead a happy, obedient and calm dog that has been good with all visitors to his home and has been very happy to greet the now trusted humans and close family members: he doesn’t stop wagging his tail and loves a fuss in return.

However, Joey is not a cuddly boy, he likes his own space and so all interaction with him needs to on his terms, so he is looking for a a family that has the experience and understanding that dogs need their space too.  Joey does seek human and dog companionship but in small doses so a quiet, cat and dog free home would be ideal for him.

Otherwise, Joey can be a social boy away from his home, and loves playing with other dogs in the park but he can get over enthusiastic and the play needs to be on his terms. If a dog Joey doesn’t know is too energetic around him or approaches from behind, Joey can get nervous and may growl as a warning or lunge at them if they do not register his warnings for them to back off.

Joey is great on a lead and has good recall.

In Joey's previous home there were young children and he does have a nip history, so we are looking for a new home where any children are teenage years but they would need to be respectful of his space.

Joey is a sensitive, quiet, loving boy and likes his long walks, a good sniff, is a sucker for a squirrel and hence loves a flirt pole.  More recently, with training, he has learnt not to go for squirrels and cats whilst on lead and walks really well.  Joey's ideal day would be a long walk in a field, a quick play with the flirt pole followed by a good sleep at home.

Joey is in the HYDE, Manchester area.
